Hollywood is not only for the rich and famous

Published June 17th, 2010

The Chamber’s Tourism Committee worked closely with LA Inc last fall to offer a familiarization trip (“FAM trip”) for some travel writers from the San Francisco area. Several of the Chamber members had the opportunity to host the group and receive media attention through various articles. One of the more inclusive articles was from The Examiner, featuring a 3-part story on Hollywood. A large portion of the writer’s time was spent with Kaylee Kiecker, VP of Marketing and Business Development for the Hollywood Chamber, and they all seemed to have a great experience. “With the incredible support from LA Inc, and the commitment from our Tourism Committee, we were able to showcase an extensive array of things to do in Hollywood, all within a 48 hour period!” said Kiecker. Sometimes it takes months before results are seen, but we think you will agree that the effort paid off handsomely and will help draw tourists to Hollywood!

The Inquisitive Traveler
Hooray for Hollywood!
By Patty Burness

Hollywood is one fun place to visit. If you think it’s the playground for only the rich and famous, forget that notion and hop on the next plane to Southern California. Hollywood Boulevard, from North Highland to North Vine, is the center of the action. And all of the celebrated spots are within easy walking distance. During a recent trip with friends, we did see some stars up close and personal – both in wax and real life.

Madame Tussauds wax museum is a must. From Barack Obama to cinema icon Audrey Hepburn, pop star Michael Jackson, and sports great David Beckham, the stars are there. You can even sit next to Jack Nicholson. It can take up to six months to mould, measure, sculpt, paint, do hair and makeup, and otherwise primp each figure from beginning to end. Who ever said it was easy being in wax?

Testimonials

Teri A. Salvador Buca di Beppo

I have been in sales and marketing for eleven years and have belonged to many different Chamber groups throughout southern California. I can say without any doubt that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has been the best experience of all. Their networking events always have a great turn-out and the venues they use are the best that Hollywood has to offer! I have made solid contacts that have been very beneficial to me in booking more events and caterings. I highly recommend the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to anyone that wants to increase their business and form solid ties to the Hollywood community.
